As the cast shrinks, the episodes get much better
The series as a whole is a bit lower rated than it really deserves at the time of writing, though that’s understandable – it’s taking a while to really establish a fully magically-focused series and a new cast of characters. A bit odd, considering what the show is all about: blowing balloons and then popping them. The series focuses best on specific character stories; it’s in the more personal moments where the writing really starts to shine.
Overall, a solid 8/10
As a result, even though the first few episodes seem to take a minute to “get going,” they’re still ‘good’, but the show actually gets pretty good once it hits its stride. Not as impressive as Wandavision, but (to my surprise) not a disappointment to its successor either. Written from episode 7 onwards.
